Flat-fare capping offers passengers better value, greater flexibility and simpler payment options, says commercial director
First South Yorkshire will be using Littlepay's technology to facilitate flat-fare capping on services in Doncaster from September 29, helping to provide yet more convenience and value to its customers.
With daily and weekly caps automatically applied to fares, many passengers will see their travel costs reduced without any effort needed to pre-plan ticket purchases.
First South Yorkshire's 'Tap & Cap' ticketing trial means that customers will enjoy the usual speed and efficiency of paying contactless with their bank card or enabled device; but in addition their payments for travel (within Doncaster) will be capped. They will never pay more than £4.70 a day, or £16.50 a week, no matter how many journeys they make.
Adding to the customer experience, they can also access a self-service portal powered by Littlepay, which tracks payments and shows the savings made. This gives them complete peace of mind that they are getting the best fare to suit their travel needs.
Allan Riggall, Commercial Director at First South Yorkshire says: "Our 'Tap & Cap' initiative offers even more flexibility and value for customers, in addition to the ease and convenience of paying digitally."
The move to introduce ‘Tap & Cap’ follows a nationwide rollout of contactless across the First Group's fleet of 5,800 vehicles. This was completed by Littlepay in partnership with Ticketer in September 2018.
