Littlepay at Transport Ticketing Global 2025

Transport Ticketing Global – the world’s largest public transport conference for smart ticketing and mobility professionals – has become a fixture in the Littlepay calendar. We relish this annual opportunity to showcase our work, catch up with partners, and forge new relationships – and the 2025 event didn’t disappoint.

“It was great to meet a number of our partners and customers in person as this was my first time attending TTG! Some really interesting themes were discussed, for example the huge cost of implementing a new payments system (3-5 times the revenue generated in some cases!) and the significant time and cost savings an open loop provider like Littlepay can offer.”

said James Scrivens, Head of Sales & Partnerships at Littlepay

Showcasing our innovations

This year the Littlepay team showcased some of our ground-breaking solutions –  Concessions, Multi Operator Capping and Google Transit Insights. We gave delegates a glimpse into how each solution works and we’ve seen a lotof interest in accessing relevant data-driven insights and how these solutions promote equitable access to public transport.

“Building on last year’s innovations, it was genuinely exciting to be able to answer the most common question: “What’s new?” with some proven enhancements backed by real-world deployments.”

Multi-operator fare capping

Our multi-operator broker service has been a popular subject for a few years. Local transit authorities want to know how they can offer a unified transit experience across an entire city or region – and we’ve got a solution that handles the technical complexities of a multi-operator scheme.

“Multi-operator capping was a key topic, with strong interest in inspection at the broker level. People were keen to understand how a common token could enable trip history checks across all operators within a scheme.”

Concessions

The Cal-ITP’s Benefits Programme has paved the way for online discount eligibility verification for contactless payments. We’ve been working with agencies both in the United States and around the world to implement concessionary travel programs that work with local governmental guidelines. There are now multiple pathways an agency can use to introduce concessionary travel for contactless users and we know how to get it done.

“Our recent work in California for concessionary passengers was a major point for discussion, with several partners looking to leverage the capability to link a passenger payment card to a concessionary entitlement, automatically applied when a passenger travels.”

Google Transit Insights

This industry-first initiative allows passengers to opt-in to a service that gives them complete visibility over their journey and transaction history. This solution offers transit operators the ability to communicate directly with riders – creating a real sense of membership. For example, passengers can see in their Google Wallet how much they’ve saved through fare capping and their progress towards the next cap.

“The value of data-driven insights was clear, with significant interest in how Google Transit Insights can enhance both passenger experience and operational efficiency by providing proactive communications.”

Recognition at the Transport Ticketing Awards

Our commitment to providing innovative solutions across the globe was recognised during the Awards Gala, as we got to see multiple Littlepay projects on the list of nominees.

We received a highly commended award in the Digital Champions category for the Google Transit Insights promotion we did at the end of 2024.  Achieved in partnership with Google and Go-Ahead, this campaign underscores the importance of giving passengers visibility over existing rewards – and the impact it can have on rider engagement.

Costa Rica’s National Electronic Payment System for Public Transportation (SINPE-TP) won Best Smart Ticketing Programme (Between 200k and 1 million daily journeys). We’ve been incredibly proud to be the PSP for this national, multimodal, multi-acquirer, interoperable payment system.

Moreover, Autolinee Toscane and Kuba won a highly commended award under the same category. This project, launched in 2024, delivered contactless payments in Tuscany across both its urban and interurban routes.

Key takeaways

There was a gear change from the 2024 event, with a significant part of our conversations shifting from how we support open loop payments to how we’re delivering added value to operators and passengers.

“Given the presentations, it was no surprise that 2025’s delegates wanted to learn more about our thinking on the opportunities around franchising, concessions and improving the passenger experience.”

said Stephen McSpadden, Senior Solutions Consultant at Littlepay

This change in emphasis led to insightful discussions around fare capping, concessions, and data-driven insights. These interactions underscored an appetite for integrated and passenger-centric models that leverage technology to create seamless and informed transit journeys. Amid this drive for innovation, it’s clear that many like-minded suppliers in the industry are limbering up to collaborate – and we can’t wait to be part of it.
